Hello and Welcome! I’m Andrea - most people call me Annie - and I am the maker behind The Poppy Shop. I’m Irish born and raised and have been in Australia on and off my whole life; I now live in Perth WA with my wonderful husband Clayton, and my two beautiful children Isabelle, 2, and Jack, 7 months.
I come from a long line of incredible seamstresses and have inherited the passion for sewing. I am a self-taught sewer and found myself making rompers, dresses, and all the pretty things when I went on maternity leave after having Isabelle. I became obsessed with cloth nappies when Isabelle was about 4 months old and fell down the rabbit hole that is handmade cloth nappies. I now eat, breath and dream about nappies!
I am passionate about sustainability and the environment, my role prior to having Izzy was a Renewable Energy Project Manager, so it only made sense I would continue in this space while on hiatus from my office job. I am passionate about reducing pollution, reducing waste, and reducing my carbon footprint. My hope is that The Poppy Shop nappies are pretty enough to convert a few more parents over to the cloth nappy way of life and remove a few more disposables from landfill! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my little cloth creations out in the wild and sharing my journey with other cloth loving families.
We are also super passionate about our music over here in The Poppy Shop and you will see all our prints, nappies, accessories and even our Warranty and Care Instructions are named after songs, bands, artists, or albums. All things music. There is an abundance of music sewn into each and every nappy made in The Poppy Shop.
