Preparation for use

While we know you are super keen to get your new Poppy Shop nappy OTB, we recommend you wash your shell, snake insert, and booster with detergent before use. Like all absorbent fabrics (think bath towels or tea towels) natural fibres like bamboo and cotton need prepping prior to use to remove natural oils and fluff up the fibres of the material to help them reach their maximum absorbency.  Being handmade there may also be sewing markings present on your new nappy, fear not, this is non-toxic washable marker and will come out with a cold wash.
Completely dry inserts and shell.
Your new nappies are now ready to use!

1. Dry Pail

Rinse solids off and drop used insert and shell into a bucket with holes - also known as a dry pail. Pre-wash within 1-2 days.

2. Pre-Wash

Pre-wash nappies and inserts in a short cycle at 40-60 degrees. This removes the majority of soiling and gets your nappies ready for the main-wash. Return nappy to the dry pail (no need to dry) until the main wash. Wash within 2-3 days.

3. Wash

Wash all nappies and inserts in a long wash cycle at 40-60 degrees with detergent. Add small laundry items (tea towels, flannels, underwear, bibs etc.) where required to ensure a sufficiently loaded cycle.

4. Dry

Air dry nappies using a clothes horse or line out of direct sun. Inserts and boosters can be tumble dried if required. It is not recommended shells be tumble dried due to the risk of delamination.

Swim Nappies and Wet Bags

Swim nappies and wet bags should be rinsed after use and washed in a long wash cycle at 40-60 degrees with detergent within 2-3 days of use.

Swim nappies and wetbags should be air dried in the shade.
